End of Pacific Youth Ballet as an independent entity - January 12, 2005 email notice:
Hello Everyone! Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to
attend the ballet meeting at the studio on Sunday afternoon. For those who
were not able to attend, the announcement was made that Pacific Youth
Ballet will be merging with Nix Performing Arts Center (based in Aiea and
directed by Ed and Juliette Nix). Nix Dance focuses on all types of dance
and performing arts except for ballet, so PYB will become the ballet arm of
this school. "Pacific Youth Ballet at Nix Performing Arts" will be opening a
new studio in town, and to this end, we will be closing the 1308 Young
Street studio as of this week, Thursday, Jan 13. We will hold classes as
usual at Young St. up through Wednesday, Jan 12.
Until we have our new studio, we will be holding our classes at Capoeira
studio, 1007 Waimanu Street, 2nd floor above the Hawaii Opera Theater
offices, east of Ward Avenue (for 3-4 weeks). Drive towards ocean on Ward,
cross Kapiolani, cross Queen St. Turn left on Waimanu St. 1007 is on the
right side of the street, 1/2 down the block. Please note that parking is
very limited in this area, so please arrive early. It appears the the large
parking lot next door is available after 5:00 weekdays and weekends. Classes
will resume on Saturday, Jan 15 at Capoeira.
Please note that some of the times are different from our original schedule.
We realize that changes in time and location are disruptive to everyones'
schedules, and we really apologize for the inconvenience caused. We will be
crediting your accounts if your child's class needs to be shortened or
cancelled due to this change. Our original schedule will resume once we are
in our new studios. The new scheduled has been emailed to you and a copy
will be put in the mail today.
Also, Monday Jan 17 is a holiday (Martin Luther King Day) but there will be
5:00-6:30 Ballet IV/Adv. class 5:00-6:30.
We thank you again for putting up with these changes. If you find that this
schedule is just not workable for you, or that you are not pleased with the
direction the school has taken, please let us know and we will refund you
any amounts paid to date for this semester (prorated).
