UFO Campaign Hope to Attract Tourists

THE UFO FESTIVAL IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.AND ROSWELL CITY OFFICIALS ARE TRYING A NEW PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN TO PEAK THE INTEREST OF VISITORS. HERE'S JAMES WULFF.

THE ROSWELL MUSEUM AND ART CENTER HAS SOME NEW ARTWORK THAT'S GETTING A LOT OF ATTENTION.

I think they're very interesting. I was surprised by them.

THE POSTERS ARE A NATIONAL PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN FOR THE CITY. THE CAMPAIGN USES THE ARTWORK OF THE 1950'S SCIENCE-FICTION NOVELS FOR THE THEME "THE AMAZING ROSWELL MYSTERIES."

How can we showcase all the attractions Roswell has to offer? Our cultural our hospitality? By using the 1947 incident as a hook.

RICK JOHNSON AND COMPANY IN ALBUQUERQUE HELPED WITH THE DESIGN. OFFICIALS SAY THE FIRM WILL RELEASE THREE ILLUSTRATIONS EACH YEAR THAT SHOWCASE THEMES OF ROSWELL. THIS YEAR'S THEMES INCLUDE BOTTOMLESS LAKES STATE PARK, A COUPLE IN SPACE SUITS WALKING DOWNTOWN AND A FARMER DISCOVERING THE 1947 CRASH.

We just want to bring Roswell together because tourism is an industry that effects all of us.

PEOPLE VISITING ROSWELL HAVE MIXED FEELINGS.

I'm a little into that science fiction thing. Some things I can't believe in.

Its nice. Its interesting. I like the way they play on it.

IF THE CAMPAIGN TAKES OFF OFFICIALS SAY THEY'LL START SELLING MERCHANDIZE. NOW YOU CAN BUY THESE T-SHIRTS AT THE MUSEUM FOR 20 DOLLARS. IN ROSWELL JAMES WULFF EYEWITNESS NEWS 8.
