Dear Pygoya

Hello, I visited your website and found your wonderful work.
As far as I know, there are very few digital artists in Thailand and there work is not poppular. However, I can recommend the places
where you can find out the information about digital art as follows:
1. Silpakorn University <www.su.ac.th> email : painting-fac@su.ac.th , dec-fac@su.ac.th
2. Thaiartnet <www.thaiartnet.com> email : webmaster@thaiartnet.com
3. Thavibu Gallery <www.thavibu.com>
If you would like to give the lecture or hold any exhibition in Thailand, you can contact the above in email addresses as well. You
lecture will be beneficial to Thai artists.

Sincerely yours,

JitdraThanee
will be moved to www.jitdrathanee.com

Dear Jitdra,

Hello, I found your wonderful Web site through search engines. I am
looking for a Thai digital artist who can represent Thailand in a
December 1999 international digital art Millenium exhibition in India
(Calcutta and Bombay galleries).

Can you help me find digital Thai art? Do you do computer art?

I shall fly to Bangkok on my way to India and would love to meet
artists. I can carry the art to India with me.

I would also like if there is opportunity my computer art in Bangkok in
December since I shall be in your country. My complete biography as a
artist is at-

http://www.lastplace.com/page28.htm

I have had hundreds of exhibitions of digital art, including China's
Shanghai Art Museum and Russia's Tartu Art Museum. I hope I can exhibit
some small works anywhere in Bangkok with some friend's help. A
gallery, school, bookstore, cafe, library is OK. I can also give free
lecture on international digital art and the Internet.

Thank you for your time. I hope we can meet.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Rodney Chang, DDS,MSED,MA,PhD
Honolulu, Hawaii

My artist name is Pygoya. Pygoya Webmuseum is at-

Dear Mr. Dasri,

Please help one last time.

Here is a letter to the instructor at your university that does some
digital art. Please print out (can use Windows Word Pad) and give or
send to him.

Hopefully I can contact him, show his work in India and give free
lecture on Web computer art to his students.

If I get the Faculty of Fine Arts email address then I can contact
directly with the staff.

Thank you so much for being the facilitator.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Rodney Pygoya Chang

Dear Dr.Rodney Chang,

Artist Parinya Tantisuk accepts your invitation to the exhibition.
When is the deadline of sending art works and where to send?
In case of problems on internet, can he send his works in CD-ROM format?

When will you arrive Thailand, where will you stay and how long?
Instructor Parinya will try to set the schedule if you can deliver some
lectures to his students. He has to process to the university as well.

If you send messages to him, please Cc me in case of internet problem at
his place.

YES!

(IF, OF COURSE, I CANNOT GET HIS 3 GRAPHIC JPEG FILES IN MY EMAIL OF
pygoya@pixi.com). I PRESUME HE AND STUDENTS DO NOT SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND
ENGLISH. I WELCOME WHOLE HEARTEDLY THE OPPORTUNITY TO LECTURE ON
"HISTORY OF DIGITAL ART AND ITS TRANSFORMATION TO 'CYBERART' OF THE
INTERNET'S EMERGING CYBERCULTUE" (VERY NEW ART HISTORY!). SO I WILL
PROBABLY NEED A GOOD TRANSLATOR DURING THE LECTURE. ALSO SLIDE
PROJECTOR AND POSSIBLY INTERNET CONNECTED COMPUTER SYSTEM IN LECTURE
ROOM SO I CAN REFER TO ACTUAL ONLINE, LIVING CYBERCULTURE EXAMPLES.
ALSO IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO DISPLAY SMALL (POSTCARD SIZE) FRAMED
PICTURES OF MINE AT THE SCHOOL. IF EXHIBITED AT YOUR LIBRARY IT MAY
BRING MORE STUDENTS AND FACULTY INTO THE LECTURE; ALSO SOME POSTER OR
FLIER ANNOUNCEMENT ON CAMPUS WILL HELP GENERATE INTEREST IN THIS NEW ART
FORM, BECOMING A PART OF THE 'CULTURE' OF WWW.
>

ARRIVE BANGKOK DEC. 8 11:40PM
LEAVE BANGKOK DEC. 9 3:10PM (SO MUST HAVE LECTURE ON DEC. 9)

THEN, UPON RETURN TRIP FROM INDIA TO HAWAII,

ARRV BANGKOK DEC 16 2:10PM
LV BANGKOK DEC 17 1:30AM (POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE DATE FOR LECTURE)

Dear Chirayoo,

Parinya Tantisuk wrote email that he cannot see my art online because
his Internet server is bad.???? He ask to have my biography and art
sample sent by mail so I will mail letter with such material to you
tomorrow. Please call and have him pick up from you. Then he can
present to his art department and decide on free lecture and small
exhibit (which I can bring in suitcase) to show students. We must work
fast. Best, if he can come and see my art on your library server, maybe
better than his. Then we save many days waiting for regular mail to
reach your county.

Dear Mr.Chang,

I would like to show you some truths. Actualy, I can't consider your case by my own opinion.
There 'er rules for managing in our faculy. At first , I might have to enter your program , your works and etc.,
( which will have been finally sent to me ), to our board for consideration. I realize you have to make haste to
conclude your program. But it have to stand on the rules too. The important case is your express program.
So, I would like to request you not to conclude that our connection will be fulfiled. But it's duty to try my
best.
I'll wait for your databases.

With my best regards,
Parinya Tantisuk.

Dear Chirayoo,

Thank you still assisting. I am learning more and more of the situation.

I include this email. At first when I read it I felt two things. One,
too many rules with too little time, this lecture/little show is NOT
going to happen. We Americans are always working fast and expecting a
miracle to benefit all parties when opportunity presents itself. Two, I
am starting to trouble Parinya personally and I do not want to be a
burden on him personally.

But now I read your email and realize the situation. Of course no OK
can be given for such a lecture/exhibit when it comes from a total
stranger on that "Internet" and about "digital art" which, still in most
American university art departments, is feared as a new easy art medium
that threatens to make professors' traditional art and craft obsolete,
left behind in the next century. As you know, all facets of our
cultures are becoming digitized/technological. Now even art. Some
consider my work "the enemy".

I have just received in invitation for a solo exhibition in the local
Honolulu museum. I have had hundreds of local shows and after 15 years
of devoted effort in this medium, I finally have a local victory. So I
can understand trepidation against the unknown, even in art which is a
field that ideally searches for new visions.

So I reserve any comment until Parinya 'sees' my new visual world on
your computer. Merci beaucoup.

But, my friend, I am totally delighted even if no lecture, no exhibit
comes into fruition from these efforts. I would be satisfied just to
meet you and/or Parinya and visit the fine art department, take photos
as a touring artist. Then, armed with my art portfolio, we could just
informally meet any student walking about and I show my work, one on one
to a student. I know, EACH student that SEES my work will have received
an educational experience impossible as of yet at this institution of
higher education.

AND, again, if you could just email me jpegs of Parinya's digital
efforts. If not, maybe just send photographs of monitor images and mail
to me for scanning by me. Include titles identified with specific
images. Statement by artist about digital art in Thailand and his work
and a Greeting to India people by Thailand. Something short and simple,
no big job intended here. If wanted, I can correct his English. If sent
via email, please, small 100-200K graphic file sizes, as such 3 could
comfortably fit unto a floppy 3.5 inch disk. Even mail such.
Address-
Dr. Rodney Chang, 2119 N. King St. Suite 206, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA
96819

If no exhibit, can I just donate a few framed signed works to your
library office? As present, gifts? Of course, first, if no exhibit,
I'd like to walk around and show them to students that I happen to walk
by with Prof. Tantisuk.

I hope Parinya and I can become friends. I know nobody in all of
Thailand and I do plan to keep travelling abroad to help digital art
become popular post 2000.

Please, he needs to get his art to me for India. Hey, if no Thai
anything I still want to help him represent Thailand in digital art and
look forward to just being a happy tourist in famous Bangkok!

Aloha,
Rodney

Dear Parinya,

Thank you sending the CDRom. I hope I can open files. I have Windows95
machine. Can you send Windows CD, not MAC? If not, I have to search for
company with MAC to convert files.

Can we meet when I get to Bangkok or is it too hard for you? I would
love to visit your school. If not, any cultural /art place I can visit
close to airport? I will be stuck in airport for many, many hours with
nothing to do.

It least maybe you can come and bring your portfolio. I you like, bring
some other digital artworks so I can carry and try later to find you
exhibition in Honolulu. Two-man exhibiton, you and me.

If you or somebody, come to airport, I want to give some framed prints
to you and Chirayoo as gifts for your offices. How is that? If you
cannot come (which would be disappointment), send a student!

Next year I try to organize digital exhibition in Milan, Italy. You have
worked in digital medium since 1990 and deserve to be in this show too.

My work has some surreal elements in it. When I DREAMED in 1990 of an
artist at his opening reception, I took his name.

Sincerely,
Pygoya

Dear Pagoya,
Thank you for the invitation in Two-man exhibition and Milan exhibition. But
I must apologize to you because of my wrong data [Artist's Statement] that I
send to you yesterday. I has started to create digital art since 1994 not
1990. Please correct it and I will send my new statement to you next time.
For your coming in 8-9 Dec., I will send my student to go to meet you at
the airport and take care you to my university. After that, we see what we
can do best. But if the situation is changed I will e-mail to you before
your coming.
The http://www.lastplace.com/EXHIBITS/E2000 music is very beautiful. Do you
know that it is Thai song ?
Sincerely yours
