December 6, 2013 CAPTAIN'S LOG

@

Took somewhat of a break from making art by trying to use my creativity in a different medium - writing fiction.  From age 60-67, wrote 5 novels and 2 volumes of short stores.  Now back to making art.

The trend is still to start with photographs of our Volcano property of 3 acres, just loaded with fantastic gardens placed within the natural rain forest up at 3500 feet elevation of Kiluaea volcano.  We're only 5 miles lower from the swirling lava crater in Volcano National Park.  The photographs then are image processed into digital art and exhibited here at Lastplace.com.

However, November has been an opportunity not wasted in starting up the use of my still art jpegs for video productions.  I have now collaborated with Jack Explicit to produce 14 videos which he posts at Utube.  A few have SEO efforts by Amit Kumar, a team member in India that is working on my DepartedClassmates.com upcoming domain.  They are also developing my concepts for animated network homepages for my various web sites or to be developed in 2014 domains.  They are titled Googull.com and Googull.com Netowork.  The first will be designed as an animated aquarium with bubbles for domain links.  The network will be a solar system with orbiting planets with domain links.  Meanwhile, in Bangladesh, a woman is busy developing my MarryMeMyLove.com..  WillYouMarryMe.com was taken.

Jack is now working on a video with art files made from photos along Hawaii marathon courses.  I run the Honolulu Marathon - again, in 2 days.  It will be my 48th finish..I hope.

After the hot and humid, taking 6.5+ hrs to complete the run at this point in my life (best time was 3:39 at age 33), Erlinda and I jet into a predicted winter storm to see Rochelle perform in the Kansas City Ballet.  Ah, again we see another version of the Nutcracker Suite.  This time by pros, including Rochelle.

Goal for 2014 is the consolidation of my web site with network homepages, development and income gains from DepartedClassmates.Com, and running the last 2 marathons to retire my running shoes.  Started training for marathons at age 29; now am 68 and want out.

Volcano has come along great with Andrea and Pio Cabico's daily efforts to create manicured and colorful flower and oramental plant gardens amongst the giant endemic fern trees.  Pio tends too to his chickens, his beloved hobby in retirement.  We enjoyed dancing in Volcano Disco inside the house this past Thanksgiving.

IT HAS BEEN AN INTERESTING EXPERIENCE, EXPERIMENT, TO VIEW MY DIGITAL ART JPEGS AS ELEMENTS OF A MULTI-MEDIA VIDEO PRESENTATION. SOME OF JACK'S WORK AS VIDEO ARTIST MERITED THE LABELING OF THE VIDEOS AS FILMS, NOT VIDEO PRESENTATIONS.  IT'S BEEN INTERESTING HOW THE STILL ART WORKS IN THE OVERALL PRODUCTIONS.  TALK ABOUT VISUAL, MULTI-SENSORY INTENSITY!  THE PRODUCTIONS I FEEL MAKE MANY OF MY DECADES OLD WORKS FEEL MORE YOUTHFUL; JACK BEING A YOUNG GUY WHO I THINK 'SPEAKS' FOR HIS GENERATION IN REGARDS TO VISUAL ENTERTAINMENT PREFERENCES.  IT SEEMS A STILL IMAGE, HUNG AND FRAMED, ISN'T ENOUGH IN TODAY'S HIGH SPEED TRANSMISSION ENTERTAINMENT AS WELL AS SHORT ATTENTION SPAN PUBLIC.  IPAD, CELLPHONES WITH CAMERAS RULES.  DESKTOPS, EVEN LAPTOPS, EVEN DVD/CDS SEEM TO BE LOSING GROUND.  WHAT'S NEXT? CLOUD ART?  ART GLASSES?  OH, THAT REMINDS ME, HAD FUN DOING SOME 3D DIGITAL ART AS WELL AS STEREOGRAMS WITH JACK.
