Kathy Chinn Chock


Kathy Chock has had a successful teaching career in the DOE since 1966 and has been an accomplished ceramist since 1976.  Her personal work in clay has led to her unique style in stoneware, porcelain, raku and pitfired vessels.  Her work has been selected for and won awards in juried and invitational shows in Hawai'i.  Her pieces have been represented in Artists of Hawai'i, in the collection of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and in many galleries.

She is sincerely interested in working with students so that they learn to take risks, participate in the creative process, and have a positive experience.   Integrating art with language arts and science, resulted in her awards as Elementary Science Teacher of the Year, Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching, National Milken Educator Award, National Challenger Faculty Member, 1997.   Her students have received national and state recognition: Language Arts Showcase, state winners, Future Aircraft Design, first place national winner, Interplanetary Art, third place national winner, Invention Convention, state and district winners.
